At One with the framing
Several of the last few entries have had a similar sort of theme, basically that the asker is not comfortable contorting to make their perspectives of issues fit a frame. I just wanted to post this illustration and address it.
Framing is like learning a new posture. Perhaps at first, your body feels a strong need to fall into old ways and habits. New positions feel odd and uncomfortable, forced and perhaps even fake. However, when the new posture is truly for a positive gain and can free up the body for a wider range of motion, after practice, the new posture feels normal and comfortable. Even healthier. That is the attitude I suggest for synthesizing the Nuturant Parent and Strict Father models.
Shifting your paradigm to a progressive way of thinking a la the SF and NP models is nothing but a useful tool that provides a shorthand template of the conservative and progressive world view. It is a quick way to mentally check yourself right in the middle of a discussion, 'why is he arguing that? What would a SF argue?', or 'am I really sticking to my progressive values here or being led off on a tangent?'
The conservative, corporate world view has been the norm on mainstream media for so long, several posters seem to have implied that using this (SF, NP) tool is disingenuous or dishonest. It is a key to understanding for many of us. I don't think using the tool has changed my worldview, it has just helped me enunciate it.

New! thanks for contributing this
New posture: good metaphor, it works for me. It's been my experience also that a clearly framed posture does become more comfortable with practice.
