How is Hillary so far ahead in the polls without talking values?

Created by dailyd on Sunday, August 19, 2007 03:22 AM

I have read transcripts twice of reporters asking George Lakoff of which Democratic Presidential candidate is doing the best job at speaking values and George has said Obama, John and Dennis, but both times he's left out Hillary. But I think Hillary is speaking values ("The welfare of each of us is dependent fundamentally upon the welfare of all of us.")

A really interesting article would be an analysis of the major progressive and regressive/conservative political presidential candidates and examples of what to do /versus what not to do when framing and speaking values.

If you could do it as an on-going series that would be even better!!

thanks
DD

Because I haven't been paying attention to polls, I just looked for some poll history for this presidential campaign. It appears to me that the numbers simply haven't changed much for any of the Dem candidates so far.

I suspect Clinton started out ahead due to name recognition.

Do you think enough people are paying close attention to the candidates and their campaigns to register changes in opinions?

Yes

I think DD's idea is a good one!

However, I admit that I've hardly listened to any of the candidates because whenever I do, they still sound like they're talking political BS. I don't hear anything that sounds grounded in anything except rhetoric and trying to get votes. I get so angry and hopeless that I just change the channel. I think the Republicans could still win the next one; they are still clearer on their values. Whether this is why they win, I can't say. "Correlation does not equal causation" keeps going through my mind.
