Brace Harlow, one of the great Republican wise men in Washington who worked starting with President Roosevelt all the way through President Eisenhower, President Nixon, President Ford, and counseled Democrats as well, and a great patriot, said something that's so profoundly true: Trust is the coin of the realm. Once you lose trust, whether in relations with the Congress, in relations to the American people, you've lost your chance. You've lost your ability to communicate and lead.
